Minkey Hockey – Hookin2Hockey
Minkey (Hookin2Hocky) is a modified form of hockey designed to introduce children to hockey. The games and rules are changed to ensure a simple and safe version of the game of hockey. The game is played on a smaller field with two 20 minute halves with a 5 minute interval. Goals are not recorded in the Minkey competition as skill development is the main objective. Swanbourne Primary School participates in the Minkey competition that is run by the Westside Wolves club. The competition takes place on Saturday mornings at College Park and it is a sight to behold. The teams are school based teams and students from years Kindy to Year 4 can play. New to this year is a new Kindy/PP session to be held at 9am at College Park. This is skills-based with some match play at the end of each session.
Registrations for the 2018 season are now open CLICK HERE TO REGISTER

Swanny Parent contact
Auskick is a non-contact program run by the Swanbourne Tigers Junior Football Club which aims to provide boys and girls with a fun and safe Australian Football experience that serves as an introduction to the AFL game.
The program combines skills training, teamwork and games to introduce children to the basics of Australian Football – it activates and develops within each child the desire for a healthy lifestyle and an association with the AFL game.
Who can play?
Auskick program is available to boys and girls from Kindy to Grade 3 (inclusive).
When is Auskick played?
Auskick runs from May until August, sessions run for approximately 1.5 hours on Sunday mornings starting at 9am at the new revamped pavilion at Allen Park Reserve in Swanbourne.
Registrations each year open in February at http://swannytigers.org.au/registration/
The club supplies a Swanbourne Tigers team Guernsey for each child to wear for the season. Footy boots are optional, though they do help if the conditions are wet. Navy footy shorts and the club navy-and-gold socks are the clubs uniform, although there is no requirement for children to wear any particular type.
What is parent involvement?
We encourage the active participation of parents in the sessions, guided and assisted by a friendly team of AFL accredited junior coaches. We’d love to see as many children and families as possible from our area.
